Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider handles the query and supplies its results. We do not keep a separate log of those search terms.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or contact message is retained as needed to answer it. It remains within the team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, ordinary server and analytics records may collect these technical details:
- The IP address assigned to your device
- Which browser you are using and its version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
- The site that sent you here, if any
- Timestamps for each page view
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files used to understand traffic, such as popular pages and common exit points. Analytics providers combine that activity into site-performance reports. Browser controls can block cookies, although some functions may then work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Delivering pages and maintaining site performance
- Routing a submitted search to the selected partner
- Diagnosing errors and other technical faults
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect user interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The site identifies official routes for Chenango County court and sheriff files, DCJS Personal Record Review, and the New York State Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report or a third-party criminal-history file. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms govern information entered there, including retention and sharing choices beyond our control. Read the provider's policy before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Chenango County offices, New York courts and agencies, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, that destination's privacy policy controls the visit. Review it before providing personal information.
Advertising providers may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
- Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
- Ad networks that place ads on our pages
- Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable safeguards protect collected data, but no internet system can guarantee perfect security. A breach or unauthorized access therefore cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor will be removed when a valid request is received.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary with residence and applicable law, including New York General Business Law section 349, which addresses deceptive consumer practices. New York Freedom of Information Law, Public Officers Law Article 6, governs requests to government agencies rather than data held by this private site. Executive Law section 837 restricts dissemination of official DCJS criminal-history records. Subject to lawful limits, you may:
- Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
- Have us fix information that is wrong
- Request that we erase your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
